Pledge of Allegiance Version 2.0

The Pledge of Allegiance is a fantastic construction unparalleled in many other countries.  The prose is deserving of a great country and the content touches on some major pillars of our value system.  Unfortunately it was never intended to fully address the American value system but that leaves the opening for the Pledge of America.

Below we have abstracted the major points or values within the Pledge of Allegiance:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands,

The line above is self evident.  The value that is being conveyed is loyalty.   In other words you should be loyal to your country.  Understood, but there are actually one worlders who think that the idea of a nation state is antiquated.  They are entitled to their opinion and time will tell what society is wrought when nobody is united to a common culture or value system.

one Nation under God,

There are two values asserted here.  The first is that we may be a republic of fifty states but that we are ONE nation.  In other words we are united and we value being united.

The second value is the belief in God.  The assertion here is the nation is on a tier below the supremacy of God.  That is correct.

indivisible,

This is a value similar to the one above.  We are united and we are committed to this unity.

with liberty

Liberty, also known as freedom is a BIG value.  Liberty is the cornerstone of America.  Living without freedom is living within some form of slavery.  Our founding fathers were willing to fight and risk their lives to preserve this value.  But liberty is one side of a two sided coin.  The other side is responsibilty.  You need both to have a civilization defined as Western.

and justice for all.

Justice is another big value.  You really can’t have liberty within a society if you don’t also have justice.  If a citizen doesn’t know the laws of their society and know that those laws are enforced equally then freedom is non existant.
